A Client’s Perspective
River’s Bend Health Care
By Gary Clarke
In September 2009 my mother had an event that required 24-hour health care. Leaving the hospital I had her transported to River’s Bend so I could be near her. I assumed she would not be leaving River’s Bend. But, over the course of about two weeks the caregivers had nursed her back to a measure of health that allowed for her return to home. I brought her to my home and I was able to care for her for another two and one half years.
Through another chain of events she returned to River’s Bend in July 2012.
During Mother’s stay I have never had a need or a question that has not been met promptly in some way. Anyone that I have approached with a concern immediately drops what they are doing and attends to my concern.
Colossians 3:12-13 says: Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another…… (NET)
This is what I have experienced at River’s Bend. A place were kindness, humility, gentleness and patience are a daily practice. And forgiveness, too! I am sure many times some of the patients will lash out at the caregivers and, as I have seen in my Mom’s case, they do not hold grudges. They understand the patient’s frustrations and give them space to be human and thereby they forgive them in order to help them.
In short, I am very pleased with the care my Mom receives at River’s Bend and, if I were to need short or long term care, River’s Bend would be my choice.
